BBC radio: public service broadcast, funded by licence fee, made for diverse audiences
community radio: not for profit, interests of a certain small group {hospital radio} funded by ads and fundraising
commercial radio: funded by ads, focused on particular genres, popular.
public service radio is funded by a licence fee. an example of this is BBC radio, people pay for BBC shows on television which in tow funds the radios. commercial radio is funded by many ads. an example would be classic FM as it focuses on classical music genre but has paid adverts.

radio in this day and age is still very popular, a reason for this is music choice, you can choose your own favourite station or podcast to listen too over and over again which attracts people of that genre. another way radio is still popular is you can listen anywhere, mainly people listen to radio in the car but now, thanks to technological advancements you can listen on phone or any other technology even tv.
production: actors only employed for six days to recored 24 episodes, actors only get scripts a few days before recording, monthly script meetings to write a weeks worth of scripts each.
the archers is the worlds longest-running soap opera, it began broadcast in 1951 on radio 4 in part to educate returning soldiers about farming, the show set in the fictional village of Ambleside, explores comforting tales of rural English life. some stories are more dramatic but most are about relationships or more realistic everyday events such as farming. each episode is 13 minutes long and listened to by more than 5 million people. the show is broadcast everyday at 7pm, again the next day, and in a weekly omnibus, the target audience was originally WWII generation.
