explain how the BBC uses different platforms to distribute radio programmes
refer to the archers to support your points [10]

- website- characters, blogs, podcasts
- radio- DAB- better quality
- omnibus- played twice a day
- discussions- funding
the BBC uses platforms like Spotify and X to promote their campaigns in episodes, for example when Helen was at trial for attempted manslaughter against her husband the hashtag #FREE HELEN was trending on X and Facebook. Both platforms are accessible by both younger and older generations to spread the story and message to the point it got onto national news. Every Sunday the omnibus is played twice a day on the radio and can be found on the website which provides the different platform of DAB radio which is better quality and can be distributed to every radio with that station, the website has every episode and omnibus so if a person wished to catch up they could by going onto the website and finding it. Also on the website are podcasts, blogs and character info to help younger and newer viewers to catch up and offer a new platform to watch and get updates.

d) DEL- structure
The archers is a radio show started in 1951 which aimed to educate army men on rationing and rural farming. It is a public service broadcaster now used to educate younger generations on farming or rural cultures of England, Through the years however the storylines have changed and warped so now its become more of a radio drama, touching on subjects like domestic abuse or life after prison. When Helen archer was brought to trial for attempted manslaughter of her abusive partner Rob, a lot of home listeners started a hashtag on twitter of #FREE HELEN which started trending fast showing how the drama informed people on how bad abuse could get and where you can get help if in that situation providing a safe and close knit environment of people who could be a massive help to struggling people. This links to the remit by educating younger people or army men on rationing or farming, entertains city folk who enjoy watching or listening to rural town dramas and informs struggling people on where to get help by showing impactful storylines.
media audiences
a) BBC 4
b) middle class women
c) strong female leads, storylines following women, mature subjects, serious subjects, gradual and realistic storylines
d) DEL- structure
The archers audience listen to the drama because they feel a bond or connection with the characters or storyline, in the case of helens abuse and trial many people were able to find help in these episodes so they could escape from situations that they may be in just like Helen was, even creating a hashtag on twitter to support Helen in the show and raise money towards a charity supporting domestic abuse victims this shows how the drama can help people who have a personal identity in the storyline.
